PUPPY CLASS - KPT (Kindergarten Puppy Training)
A special class designed to get puppies started on the right foot. You will be amazed at what a young puppy can learn! The class is for puppies that are younger than 16 weeks old at the start of class for medium and large breeds; small or toy breeds may be up to 5 months at the start of class.
Proof of two series of puppy shots required including Parvo, Parainfluenza and Distemper.

This six-week class covers basic dog obedience – controlled walking, introduction to sit/down/stay commands, and teaching to come on command. One-third of the class is devoted to socializing your pet to get along with other dogs and people. Problems with housebreaking, chewing, digging and general discipline are covered. Basic care techniques are covered. A six-week course, one hour each week.
AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Class
Every puppy deserves a great start in life and the AKC's new program for puppies will help that happen. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program is proudly offered by Dog Training Club of St. Petesburg. This new 6-week course is designed to give puppies a head-start . They will be taught basic obedience, introduced to puppy agility, socialization with other pups and people, and puppy care, behaviorial problems and training to ensure these puppies grow up to be wonderful pets. "STAR" is an acronym for Socialization, Training, Activity, and a Responsible owner, all the things a puppy needs. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is open to purebred and mixed breed dogs . Enrolling in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program means the puppy will be listed in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy records. After passing a graduation tests, Puppies will receive 1) A gorgeous gold olympic-style medal with the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy logo 2) A frameable AKC S.T.A.R. BASIC & BASIC MANNERS
This is the foundation class for all obedience. It covers walking on leash without pulling, coming to you when called, staying when told in a sit, down or stand. Learn not to bark at other people or pets and allow a stranger to touch and pet him/her without jumping up on them. Learn to pay attention to you it a class situation. Many problems are solved when the owner takes charge of his dog.

You will learn the techniques of dog training, praising and correcting humanely and effectively. It is an investment in having a well-behaved pet for the rest of his/her life. Basic is for dogs 5 months and older at the start of class. This 7-week class teaches you how to train your dog. You come with your dog one hour each week. You will get homework/practice to do during the week.
BEGINNER'S NOVICE
Advanced Basic is a class for dogs and handlers who have completed the Basic Class and wish to continue to train. The Basic Class exercises will be perfected and the handlers will be introduced to hand signals. There will be an emphasis on walking on leash without pulling and figure 8 exercises are introduced.

Dogs will learn to stay where told as their owners leave, distractions will offer challenges and are designed to build an obedient and confident working dog. Seven one-hour classes.
NOVICE
Novice is a fast paced, seven-week class to introduce obedience competition groundwork. Although not everyone in this class plans to show their dogs (mixed breeds can compete!), the lessons are valuable for all dogs.
Attention exercises, advance heeling footwork and stay exercises challenge the dog and handler. Teamwork is stressed.
