Give Give your puppy the best head start you can! This six-week course is for puppies of all breeds and mixes. They do not need to be AKC registered to enroll.  Puppy classes are designed to get puppies started on the right foot. This class covers the basics of controlled walking, introduction to sit/down/stay and teaching to come on command. Up to one-third of the class is devoted to socializing the puppy to get along with other dogs and people. We cover problems with housebreaking, chewing, digging and general discipline. Basic care techniques are also covered.

"S.T.A.R." is an acronym for Socialization, Training, Activity, and a Responsible owner, all the things a puppy needs. This puppy class is open to purebred and mixed breed dogs. Enrolling in program means the puppy will be listed in the AKC S.T.A.R. puppy records. After passing a graduation test, you will receive:
1) A gorgeous gold Olympic-style medal with the AKC S.T.A.R. puppy logo
2) A frameable AKC S.T.A.R. puppy certificate
3) A 64-page booklet on what to expect during the first year, housetraining, crate training and grooming tips are just some of the many topics
4) Discount enrollment in AKC Companion Animal Recovery
5) Subscription to AKC'S monthly email newsletter that includes training tips and other valuable information.

Classes are open to puppies five months and younger when the course begins. Two sets of puppy vaccines against distemper, parainfluenza, bordatella, hepatitis and parvo virus are required.

Classes fill quickly. Because our classes are available on a first come, first served basis, we suggest that you sign up for when you decide to take a class. For your convenience, please sign up online. Click on the title of the class you want to take in the box to the left.

Family members are encouraged to watch the class, but only one of you can take your puppy through the course. For class, wear comfortable sports-type clothes that are easy to move in and enclosed sports shoes that will not slip, slide or come off your feet. No high heels, no flip-flops, no clogs and no sandals. For the puppy, bring whatever leashes and collars you may own that fit her in case the instructor wants you to try something you already own. Please, no chain leashes or retractable leashes. Bring lots of pea-sized soft treats. Chicken, hot dogs, cheese or soft dog treats cut into small pieces work well. Try to arrive 15 minutes early for your first class and do not feed at least four hours before class. If you bring children with you, they must be supervised or old enough to not require supervision. We have a large parking lot. Please do not park against the building
